Skream

Skream

Skream, (Oliver Dene Jones of West Wickham, Bromley, London) is a dubstep producer based Croydon. He was one of Dubstep’s first and most prominent producers; he has played an important role in the genre’s development. Skream is also part of the mainstream dubstep group, Magnetic Man along with Benga and Artwork. As a teenager, Skream worked at Big Apple Records, a Croydon based record store that was at the centre of the early dubstep scene. Prior to this Skream had been acquainted with Hatcha another dubstep pioneer through Skream’s brother, who worked on a dance floor at the Big Apple Records studio. As a result of this, Hatcha was one of the first to play Skream dubplates. Skream began producing music at the age of 15 (using Fruity Loops) and claims to now have roughly 8000 songs in varying stages of development, including a number of early disco and funk inspired records. Skream's early productions were often with another alumnus of Big Apple, Benga, and are of a decidedly darker and less melodic nature than later releases. Skream became a mainstream artist and begun to rise in popularity and fame. He has produced hundreds of songs that he has created from scratch but also very professional remixes of original songs.
I have also uploaded some of Skream's, in my opinion, best dubstep remixes ranging from 2009 to 2011.
